Alviarin's Quest for Health and Happiness

{June 11, 2010}   June 11th

So sorry for the week of missed posts.  Our internet was down.  I will pick it back up starting this weekend!

{June 5, 2010}   Day 5 P90X

Man I’m beat!  I just did Yoga X.  It sounds like it would be an easy night but man that’s not the case.  It’s like yoga endurance training.  I really enjoyed it though.  The only thing I would change is you can’t turn the trainer guy off on this DVD.  That is one of the reasons I like the other workouts, he really gets on my nerves.  My husband jumped in with me tonight and he got a really good workout also.  He was impressed.

Ok here’s what I had to eat today:

Breakfast: Slimfast shake

Lunch: Spicy chicken breast

Snacks: 1/2 cookie and 8oz Kool-Aid, and 2 cups popped popcorn

Dinner:  Salad with olive oil and red wine vinegar

My total calorie intake was about 1100 calories.

’til tomorrow

{June 4, 2010}   Day 4 (June 4th)

I went garage sale shopping today with the girls in my mom group, so we ate out for breakfast and lunch :(

Breakfast: Egg McMuffin

Lunch: 1 1/2 cheese roll up

Snacks: 1 glass of Kool-Aid, 1 cup mashed potatoes

Dinner: 1/2 cup of vegetable soup and a grilled cheese

My total calories for today add up to 1410.  My workout tonight was going to be Yoga, but I decided to make tonight my rest night.  I did walk all over the city-wide garage sale today :)

’til tomorrow!

{June 3, 2010}   Day 3 p90x

Ok, so 3 days into my new diet I cheated.  I now remember why I didn’t stick to the Atkin’s diet the last time I tried it.  I just love bread too much.  So, I think I’m going to re-group and try a new strategy.  I’ll just try portion control…which is hard, but at least I can eat what I like.

Here’s what I ate today:

Breakfast: 4 oz of meatballs

Snacks: 2 oz jerky, 2 oz cashews

Lunch: Atkin’s bar

Dinner: 2 pieces of cheese pizza

My workout tonight was P90X shoulders and Arms.  It was similar to my first nights workout.  It was tough though.  I think, just from these last 3 days, that I will get good results with this!

’til tomorrow

{June 2, 2010}   Day 2 (June 2nd) P90X

Today my diet was the following:
Breakfast- 2oz Steak, 1 cup broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots
Snack- 2oz beef jerky
Lunch- toppings off of 2 pepperoni pizza slices
Dinner- salad with olive oil and vinegar

My work out for today was the cardio DVD from P90X. It is one of the best cardio workouts I’ve come across. Again, the trainer is quite annoying, but if you tune him out I think you will enjoy this DVD!

’till tomorrow!

{June 1, 2010}   Day 1 (June 1st)

Ok here’s what I ate today.  I’m not counting calories so I’m not sure how many I took in.

Breakfast: 4 oz steak

Snacks: 2 oz cashews and 4 oz cheddar cheese

Lunch: 4 oz of meatballs in red sauce

Dinner: 4 oz of meatballs in red sauce

My total carbs taken in today is 25 grams.  My goal is 20 grams,  so I went over a little today.  We’ll see if that hurts my weigh in on Monday.

I started P90X tonight.  I have to admit I’m beat, that first DVD was a killer.  It worked my back and shoulders I’ll definitely be sore in the morning.  I’m about to pop in the second DVD for the night which will work my abs.  I’m kinda scared about that one!  I will say that the guy who is training you in the workouts is VERY annoying.  If you watch The Office, he kinda reminds me of Michael Scott, which is funny at first but after spending an hour listening to him it gets old.  I do like how you can mute him except for instructions.  I think after I do the DVDs a couple of times I will have to do that for my sanity.

{May 31, 2010}   My journey starts tomorrow.

I’m getting excited. Tomorrow I will begin my post-baby workouts. I’ve held off long enough, Elaine is almost 9 months old and I still haven’t really started a healthy diet and exercise routine.  I told myself that I’d be in shape by her 1st birthday in September.  That gives me 90 days.  I’ll be going on the Atkins diet, which I have gone on before and had decent results, and I’ll be trying the P90X workout series.  I am in no way a doctor and I don’t work in the health care profession.  I will just be telling you my results and you can take it or leave it.  Don’t hesitate to let me know your opinions and suggestions.  I’m pretty open, this is all new to me.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you!
